AK2 'Good Writing'
| |
AK2 is the basic writing course in the English Translation curriculum,
taught in one-hour weekly groups in both the Fall and Spring terms. AK2
covers personal, professional and academic documentation in English, with
attention to cultural standards and expectations as well as the influence
of new technologies on traditional written style.
AK2 is worth 4 ECTS credits, and is graded on the averaging of a
minimum of six written assignments plus an
examination on writing and documentation standards. Students should
subscribe to the AK2-L class e-mail
list.
AK2 is prerequisite for subsequent writing courses in the ETRAN
curriculum, as well as the AK1 Finnish Institutions
Research Paper. While an 'Intermediate Studies' course, AK2 may be
taken by roughly half of each first-year student group during their second
(Spring) term, so they may qualify for AK1 in the first term of their
second year. Classes are restricted to UTA English Translation major and
minor degree students. AK2 is not open to international students.
