FAST-US-2 (TRENPK8a) U.S. Institutions Survey is a basic
course in the FAST Curriculum and
required-option in the English Translation curriculum. US-1 Introduction to American English is
recommended either prior to or concurrently with US-2.
US-2 reviews the basic interrelationships of U.S. institutions.
Lectures cover geography and demographic patterns; social, political,
governmental and economic structures; mass communications; educational
systems; and aspects of national character as reflected from U.S. history,
with a focus on institutional terminology as well as substance.
US-2 is worth 2 ECTS credits, with evaluation by a 2-hour in-class
exam. The course is offered in both the fall and spring terms on
Wednesdays from 1015-1145 in Pinni B-4117. Students should subscribe to
