AK16 (FAST-US-4) is an advanced course in the FAST aand English Translation curricula. It is graded, worth 2-4+ ECTS credits, depending on the evaluation option. Evaluation is via a course exam (1 credit) or an optional paper or other supervised project (normally 4+ credits). Students must also submit 3 questions related to U.S government and politics.

Students should join USA4-L@uta.fi (preferably also FAST-L, both via <listserv@listserv.uta.fi>) and use the US-4 web resources at <www.uta.fi/FAST/US4>. Course background readings include American Government (Lowi & Ginsberg, 2000), American Government (DiIulio & Wilson, 1995), American Politics (Lasser, 1996) and [U.S.] State and Local Government (Bowman & Kearney, 1996).
