General Eligibility

Who is eligible to apply?

The University of Tampere (UTA) welcomes applications for admission to the degree programmes taught in English.

• Eligible to apply for a Bachelor's degree programme is a person who has a qualification completed abroad which in the awarding country gives eligibility for corresponding higher education. In practice, preference will be given to international applicants who have previous university studies. At the moment, UTA does not offer Bachelor's degree programmes in English.
• Eligible to apply for a Master's degree programme is a person who has completed a university level Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the field of the desired programme or in a closely related subject. Applicants who will graduate after the application deadline but before the announcement of the results,

• Eligible to apply for a Doctoral degree programme is a person who has completed a Master’s Degree or equivalent in the prospective major subject or in a closely related field. For further information on admission criteria for Doctoral studies, please contact the appropriate school

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, applicants must meet:

  • Requirements for Doctoral studies

Please note that competition is high and the number of eligible applications annually exceeds the number of students that can be accepted.

As a rule, applicants who do not meet the general eligibility and programme-specific admission criteria will not be selected.
