Degree-level university students can apply to UTA through exchange programmes and via UTA's bilateral agreements. A very limited number can be accepted as international visiting students from outside the exchange programmes and agreements.

In addition to the eligibility criteria, applicants must meet the English language requirements of UTA

Eligibility by categories:

Exchange students

You are eligible to apply if you are studying as a degree student at a university which has an agreement on student exchange  with UTA (ERASMUS, NORDPLUS, ISEP, FIRST, UNC-EP, north2north, BCI, bilateral agreements). Please, check the list of partner universities of UTA .

If you are studying as a degree student at a university outside Finland, you are eligible to apply even if your home university does not have an agreement on student exchange with UTA. However, acceptance of students applying outside exchange agreements is limited.

Admittance of students who have acquired their secondary education in Finland and who are currently studying as degree students at a university outside Finland is limited and subject to consideration by the admitting faculty.

Cross Institutional Studies (UNIPOLI)

Exchange students who are admitted to UTA can apply to complete specific courses in the other two higher education institutions in Tampere as well:

  • Tampere University of Technology (TUT)
  • Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK)

Please note that you can select studies only if your home institution accepts them and that you will receive a separate Transcript of Records from each university where you have completed studies.

When you have received the basic user account of UTA, you can apply to take Unipoli studies. The application process for cross institutional studies is electronic.

You can find more information on how to apply and on courses available on the UNIPOLI website. Information on studies is published at the beginning of each academic semester.
