A student who has been accepted to study at a Finnish educational institution must apply for a residence permit in advance through a Finnish diplomatic mission if his or her studies in Finland last for more than three months. EU citizens and citizens of Iceland , Liechtenstein , Norway and Switzerland register their right to reside in Finland at a Finnish police department.
Non-EU citizens must attach details of their comprehensive health insurance cover to their application.
Further information on residence permit and health insurance can be found on the website of the Finnish Immigration Service.
