Enrolment of New Students
To make your enrolment process as smooth as possible, we have prepared a step-by-step list for you. Please also read the official enrolment instructions by clicking the purple button on the upper right corner.
- Welcome to pick up the enrolment papers and the Orientation Package from the International Office (room A129) in the Main Building.
The enrolment papers include a registration form, an invoice for the payment of the Student Union fee and the Student ID Card application form. Enrolment papers of degree students also contain the login ID (Basic User Account, BUA) for the University IT Systems. Exchange and visiting students get their login ID when they enrol at the Registrar's Office.
- If you are a degree student, please obtain a confirmation of validity of your academic documents.
Also non-degree students who pay a course fee obtain the confirmation (not exchange/visiting students).
Present the original documents of your educational background at the Study Office of your school. For contact details, please see your Letter of Acceptance.
- Pay the *Student union membership fee
Please use the invoice included in your enrolment papers. The fee is payable at any bank from a Finnish bank account or in cash. Those having a bank account in one of the countries of the Euro area can use your internet bank account. Please remember to include the given reference number with the transfer. You cannot pay the fee at the University. Keep the receipt of the payment.
- Fill in the missing details in your Registration Form and SIGN it.
- Enrol at the Registrar’s Office
You are required to present the following documents when they enrol:
- Letter of Acceptance
- filled registration form
- receipt of the paid *Student Union Membership fee (EUR 48,50 for the spring semester, preparation costs of approx. EUR 5 are charged by the Student Union upon collection).
- passport (or EU identity card / EU driving licence)
- passport photo for the student ID card
In addition, degree and non-degree students (not exchange and visiting students) must present:
- confirmation of the validity of your academic documents; to get the confirmation, you must present the original documents of your educational background at the Study Office of the school concerned.
*Student Union membership is compulsory for all degree seeking first and second cycle (i.e. Bachelor´s and Master´s level) students at Finnish universities, as well as for all exchange and visiting students. For postgraduate (Licentiate and Doctoral) students, the membership of the Student Union is voluntary. The membership fee is EUR 24) and the benefits are fewer.
