Global Village is an organisation formed by a small group of expatriates living in Tampere and wanting to assist those new to Tampere (and Finland) in their efforts to settle in. Global Village has a further goal of “internationalization” for the Tampere area. The people involved have learned through their own experiences how newcomers to this society can avoid many pitfalls and how to basically make being so far away from home not feel so lonely.

Global Village is also dedicated to the idea that many cultures in one place enriches the atmosphere and gives the whole society greater potential. In this spirit it intends to facilitate regular cultural events (Finnish events included, of course) so that everyone living in Tampere area can have opportunities to get to know each other. Global Village also encourages different people to trade knowledge and learn from each other in the form of a barter sys tem (vaihtopiiri).

For more information contact: Angie Pohja, Chairman of Global Village: 03-341 1471.

  • learn about other cultures and meet new people
  • go on outings and excursions
  • get help with everyday matters
