In order to access web tools and email, students get a Basic User Account (BUA) when they enrol in the University. You should activate your account promptly according to the instructions included in your enrolment papers (degree students) or given to you when you enrol at the Registrar's Office (exchange and visiting). The account will open within three days after you have activated it. After your BUA is functional, you should log in to the UTA webmail and read a message, which contains information on web tools and your @uta.fi-email address. Email addresses are usually of the format firstname.lastname@uta.fi unless there are students by the same name in the University register. If this is the case, the first letter of your second name has been added in the middle.
Your student ID card will be activated to function as an electronic key to students’ computer facilities upon collection from the Student Union. For the first few weeks you can get a separate key card for a deposit of EUR 20 from the User Info at the Computer Centre. The student ID card of postgraduate students and researchers does not have this key function and they must obtain a separate key card.
If you need any help with your User Account or key cards, please contact:
Customer Service at the Computer Centre

Further information on the IT services can be found on the website of the Computer Centre.
One of the webtools you can access with your BUA is NettiOpsu. Through NettiOpsu students enrol in classes and examinations, can browse their results and transcript of academic records.
Another webtool accessible with your BUA is Moodle. It is a virtual learning environment administrated and supported by the Learning Technology Centre of the University. Teachers are frequently using the Moodle learning environment to keep the students updated on the progress of the course. Moodle also offers various tools to support learning and to make available the learning materials of the course.
You can access Moodle at https://learning.uta.fi/.
