Social Aspects of Robots in Homes

Luennon abstrakti:
The talk will address some social aspects of robots in homes, especially in the home care of disabled. Robots are now starting to enter the homes in the shape of automatic vacuum cleaners and lawn mowers. Now more versatile robots are at the horizon, in humanoid shapes such as the ASIMO, or as pets, such as the now old AIBO and PARO pets. More machinelike robots are also under development, and the issue is how people want the robots to appear and behave. What are the expectations from people on robots in the role of home assistants? This question will be addressed with two studies as a starting point.
