Information Obesity - Infoähkystä informaatiolihavuuteen

What is information obesity, and why is it a more useful metaphor than 'information overload' when it comes to thinking about how we find, filter, use and manage information at the personal level? This lecture will explore the causes of information obesity that, like physical obesity, can be found in all three levels of society: the personal, the structural, and the organisational. It will then examine standard definitions of information literacy, including the ACRL's (the basis of Finnish IL policy), and consider whether these properly attend to the  causes of information obesity.
