The talk will provide an introduction to Basic Formal Ontology, to its treatment of universals, instances and defined classes, of material entities and the spatial regions they occupy, of processes and the temporal regions they occupy, and of attributes and information artifacts and their dependence relations to material bearers. It will describe how BFO is being used in some 300 application ontologies throughout the world.
