Information concerning doctoral student's studies will be transferred to the Study Guide during the autumn term 2017.

Doctoral student’s travel grants and proofreading costs of doctoral dissertations

Advance approval must be applied for all trips and proofreading costs that you wish to be paid for under the Faculty’s basic funding. A doctoral student may receive a travel grant up to 1000€ per year and support for proofreading costs of a doctoral dissertation up to 1000€ per student.

This procedure aims at guaranteeing one conference trip paid from the Faculty’s basic funding in 2017 for all of the Faculty’s doctoral students who do not have project funding, provided that they have an active role in the conference. Furthermore, the latest update of the study and supervision plan of the doctoral students may be a maximum of twelve months old. Doctoral students may also apply for the proofreading costs of their doctoral dissertation to be paid from the basic funding (point 3). Here, the term “doctoral student” refers to a person who has the right to complete a scientific or artistic postgraduate degree in the Faculty of Communication Sciences.

The trip may not start or the acquisition may not take place before the Dean’s advance approval (= an M2 plan or electronic form approved by the Dean).

The advance approval must be sought well in advance, at a minimum one week prior to the trip or acquisition:

a) in M2 (a person who has an employment relationship with the Faculty)

b) by electronic form (in the case of a trip by a doctoral student who does not have an

employment relationship with the Faculty)

DO THE FOLLOWING:

1. Advance approval for trips = travel plan in M2 (people with an employment

relationship with the Faculty)

- Submit a travel plan in M2 at the latest one week prior to the trip.

2. Advance approval for trips with the electronic form (the Faculty’s doctoral students

who do not have an employment relationship with the Faculty)

- Fill out and submit the electronic form at the latest one week prior to the trip at

https://elomake3.uta.fi/lomakkeet/18418/lomake.html.

-When you have obtained the advance approval, fill out a travel grant payment request.

3. Advance approval for proofreading costs with the electronic form

- Fill out and submit the electronic form at the latest one week prior to the acquisition

at https://elomake3.uta.fi/lomakkeet/18418/lomake.html.

- You will have to enclose a short statement from your supervisor stating that the dissertation is ready for pre-examination

- The grant for proofreading costs will be paid after the Faculty has seen the receipt, so an estimate of the costs is enough when you apply for it
