In addition to courses taught in English exchange students have a possibility to complete course units by independent study of literature either taking a book exam or writing an essay in English. 

Other study possibilities

Independent study at CMT: Literature for the book exam and the topic for the essay and other details must be agreed with teacher responsible.

JOVP3 Ethics in Communication (5 ECTS)
Exchange students can take the study module by completing both study requirements (1 and 2):
1) Book exam on two books:
- Online journalism ethics : traditions and transitions / Cecilia Friend and Jane B. Singer
- Normative theories of the media : journalism in democratic societies / Clifford G. Christians ... [et al.].
2) Essay on media ethics. The topic and other details must be agreed with teacher responsible of the module.

JOVA8 Media and Cultural Industries (5 ECTS)

Studying in Tampere Region (UNIPOLI network)

International students at the University of Tampere (both exchange and degree students) can take some courses also at Tampere University of Technology and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The cross-institutional studies are offered by the Unipoli network. The Unipoli web site also offers information on the Finnish way of life and happenings in and around Tampere. UniPID - Finnish University Partnership for International Development

Virtual Studies are provided on a variety of Sustainable Development topics. UniPID offers all students from member universities the opportunity to complete a minor in Development Studies (25 ECTS) through the UniPID Virtual Studies: Sustainability in Development Programme. Students are free to choose from a list of courses each worth 5 ECTS to tailor an individual study programme. Visit our Courses page to view a list of available courses.
