Accomodation:

The organizers have reserved rooms at the hotels mentioned below. To obtain the special conference rates, bookings MUST be made on the registration form. If no rooms are available in the hotel of your first choice, reservation will be made for the next possible alternative. Buffet breakfast and Finnish sauna are included if not otherwise stated. The room rates are quoted per night per room, including VAT 8%. For a twin room (two persons, two beds) please give your room mate's name.

All accommodation costs will be paid at check-out directly to the hotel. No deposit is required from an individual traveller but the hotel reserves the right to debit the first night's accommodation from you if you have not cancelled your reservation in advance. Please, make sure you inform your time of arrival on your registration form. If your arrival is later than at 6 pm and you have not informed Tampere Conference Service or the hotel about late arrival, your booking cannot be guaranteed.

Holiday Inn Tampere
Holiday Inn Tampere is a high-level business hotel situated in the centre of town, right next to the Tampere Hall. You will take pleasure in visiting the Opera Bar & Brasserie restaurant, sauna and jacuzzi.. Air-conditioned rooms. Distance to Tampere Hall: 200 m.

Sokos Hotel Villa
A cosy, quiet hotel with a friendly atmosphere next to Tampere Hall. A distinctive hotel in a renovated granary next to a shopping centre and restaurants, all modern conveniences. No sauna or swimming pool. Distance to Tampere Hall: 200 m.

Hotel Kauppi
A budget-price city hotel close to a sports and recreation area. Microwave oven and refrigerator in every room. Restaurant, lobby bar, indoor swimming pool, sauna. 44 rooms, nonsmoking floor. Distance to Tampere Hall: 1 km.

These two hotels have neither reception personnel nor a reception desk, and thus no check-in or check-out procedures. The hotel concept is innovative and is based on the principle of self-service. All possible work tasks have been completely automated using IT. Bookings and payment ONLY on the Internet.

Travelling to Tampere:

The Tampere-Pirkkala airport is about 17 km south-west of the Tampere city centre. The airlines operating in Tampere are Finnair, Ryanair and Blue1. Bus from the airport to city centre takes about 40 minutes and costs about 4 € /person. Airport Taxi vehicles are on stand-by for plane arrivals and carry passengers to and from Tampere city. Fare for Airport Taxis is 12 €/person. Normal taxi to Tampere city costs about 35 €/person.

Weather and Climate:

The climate in Finland shows characteristics of both a maritime and a continental climate, depending on the direction of air flow. Finland belongs wholly to the temperate coniferous-mixed forest zone with cold, wet winters, where the mean temperature of the warmest month is no lower than 10°C and that of the coldest month no higher than -3°C, and where the rainfall is, on average, moderate in all seasons.

In September sun rises in Tampere at 6.30 am and sets at 8.00 pm. The average temperature in September ranges between +5 and +15 Celsius degrees. When clear and sunny, it is usual that the maximum temperature rises over +20 Celsius degrees in September.
