Molecular Biology and Global Health Challenges

 

A public symposium "Molecular Biology and Global Health Challenges" was organised in Tampere, Finland on the 6th of September, 2008.

The meeting brought together leaders of biomedical research and education, funding organizations, pharmaceutical industry and public agencies, to discuss and define a strategy for bringing together scientific innovation, business, and global social development.

The event was attended by over 700 participants, including reseachers, students and teachers from high schools, polytechnics and universities, politicians as well representatives of the civil society, commerce, and media.

The audience sent questions to the organisers in advance and actively participated in the concluding panel discussion, posing questions and offering their views to the panelists.

The Symposium was organised by the University of Tampere, the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), The Finnish Medical Society Duodecim, Tampere Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the City of Tampere.
