Besides involvement in research and education, UTA-DIH personnel arrange meetings and seminars, participate in NGO (non-governmental organization) activities and provide consultancies for various parties in global health –related issues.

During 2007, a link was formed with ICROSS, a large international NGO operating especially in Kenya. Plans for collaboration between UTA-DIH and ICROSS in research, training and public health were laid in 2007 and are expected to be realized in 2008 – 2010.

In September, 2008, UTA-DIH will collaborate with New World International and Tampere Hall, to organise a photographic exhbition "Africa Awakes", by Manuel Scrima. The exhibition will decsribe the beauty and mysteries of life in the East African Great Rift Valley. More information on the exhbition can be found at www.africa-awakes.com.
