The 2nd Tampere Symposium on Global Health Research (Tampere Hall, Tampere, 05.09.2008)

This symposium aims to disseminate results from and information on current research projects on global health, to facilitate interdisciplinary networking, and to promote active dialogue between researchers and health professionals and policy makers. Accordingly, the symposium welcomes participation from scientists, students, and other professionals and activists from various fields of global health.

The program will consist of three sessions: Human migration and health, Global burden of disease, and Health systems, globalization and multi-disciplinary health research. All sessions will start with a keynote lecture, followed by 4-5 short talks. The organizing committee selected the oral presentations from submitted abstracts.

On the following day (September 6, 2008), an associated, high-profile satellite symposium called “Molecular Biology and Global Health Challenges” will be organized at the same venue. Participants of the symposium on global health research are welcome to attend also the satellite event, which brings together leaders of biomedical research and education, funding organizations, pharmaceutical industry and inter-governmental and non-governmental agencies, to discuss and define a strategy for successful merger of scientific innovation, business, and global social development. More information on the satellite event can be found here.

Registration fee to the symposium is 65 € before August 15th and 85 € thereafter. The fee includes payments for lunch and coffee break servings both on September 5 and 6. Detailed information on fee payment and an individual reference number shall be e-mailed to all registered participants upon the receipt of their registration.

For registration, please send an email with your name, title, and affiliation to hanna.peevo@uta.fi.
