Besides involvement in research and education, UTA-DIH personnel arrange meetings and seminars, participate in NGO (non-governmental organization) activities and provide consultancies for various parties in global health –related issues.

• This symposium aims to disseminate information on current research projects on global health, to facilitate interdisciplinary networking, and to promote active dialogue between researchers and public health professionals and policy makers. The symposium welcomes participation from all scientists, students, and other professionals and activists from various fields of global health.

• This symposium is organised jointly by the University of Tampere Institute of Medical Technology, UTA-DIH, EMBO, Tampere Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the City of Tampere, and the Finnish Medical Society Duodecim, in association with the 13th annual EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organisation) Members’ Workshop
• The aim of the symposium, which will be open to all concerned parties locally, nationally and internationally, is to promote improved communication between front-line basic scientists, technologists, NGOs, the private sector and governmental bodies, working in fields relevant to global health. Furthermore, we hope to create a forum for public debate of the main issues, in the hope of catalysing more effective actions for sustainable and worldwide health development.
