Conference

Research Centre on Transnationalism and Transformation (TRANSIT) will organize on 25-26.4.2016  a conference on Globalizing social and health care at the University of Tampere, in collaboration with MULTI-TRAIN and TRANS-SPACE projects.

Increasing intercultural understanding in work communities:
Contextual action research in social and health care work (MULTI-TRAIN)

MULTI-TRAIN provides empirically validated knowledge needed to create conditions for successful intercultural interaction in multicultural social and health care organizations in Finland. The aim is to generate an adequate understanding of the ways in which workplace communities as a whole could be helped to adapt, in a sustainable way, into increasing cultural diversity.

MULTI-TRAIN is contextual action research undertaken by a multi-disciplinary research team, in close collaboration with five social and health care providers. The project seeks to help and empower the representatives of workplaces to solve problems arising in their daily work and interaction situations. The final goal is to produce mutually agreeable transformative actions for the future.

The research project (2013-2017) is funded by the Academy of Finland and is conducted by the University of Tampere, in collaboration with the University of Eastern Finland.
