Research Group

MULTI-TRAIN brings into a close cooperation a multidisciplinary research group consisting of senior scientists, post-doctoral researchers and junior researchers. The team members brings together experts in all the areas of interest in the project: diversity management, recruitment/qualification, intercultural interaction and intercultural learning.

Team members

Pirkko Pitkänen, Ph.D. Professor of Educational Policy and Multicultural Education, University of Tampere, Faculty of Education. Role in the project: Research leader in charge.

Vuokko Niiranen, Ph.D. Professor of Social Management Sciences, University of Eastern Finland, Department of Health and Social Management. Role in the project: Local research leader.

Kaija Matinheikki-Kokko, Ph.D. Adjuct Professor, Research and Development Manager, Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Welfare and Human Functioning. Role in the project: Senior researcher.

Sari Hammar, Ph.D. Development Coordinator, Centre of Excellence on Social Welfare in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Role in the project: Post-doctoral researcher.

Katja Keisala, Ph.D., International Relations. Role in the project: Post-doctoral researcher.

Suvi Nieminen, Ph.D., Social and Health politics. Specialist Qualification in Management (2013). Role in the project: Post-doctoral researcher.

Pirjo Raunio, Ph.D., Training Manager, Sataedu. Role in the project: Post-doctoral researcher.

Kirsti Sainola-Rodriguez Ph.D. Role in the project: Post-doctoral researcher.

Aulikki Sippola, Ph.D. (Econ.). Diversity Management Expert in Diversity Charter Finland/ Corporate Responsibility Network FIBS (Finnish Business and Society). Role in the project: Post-doctoral researcher.

Kaisa Niiranen, M.A. Doctoral student at the University of Tampere, Faculty of Education. Role in the project: Researcher.

Krista Nuutinen, M.A. Spanish language. Doctoral student at the University of Eastern Finland, Department of Health and Social Management. Role in the project: Researcher.

Päivi Vartiainen, MSc. Doctoral student at the University of Tampere, Faculty of Education. Role in the project: Researcher.

Marja Koskela, BA Education, Student at the University of Tampere, Faculty of Education. Role in the project: Research assistant.

The project has a National Advisory Board consisting of local and state authorities and scientists. In addition, an International Steering Committee will provide scientific advise to the project.
