The American photographer Chi Modu who photographs hip hop culture and journalist Karri Miettinen, also known as the rap artist Paleface, will hold an open lecture at the School of Communication, Media and Theatre. Modu will present a cross-section of his photographs on hip hop culture. Miettinen will analyse rap music and the place and role of the related media presentations in contemporary culture and society.

Chi Modu has become known as the most renowned documentarist of the defining years of hip hop culture (www.chimodu.com). His photography exhibition Uncategorized was shown by Pori Art Museum in the summer of 2014. The photographs depicted the most famous rap artists from the 1980s and 1990s.

Paleface is the pioneer of critical and political rap music in Finland. He is also a music journalist and a human rights advocate.
