Retrieval from Tampere University Library’s information resources was renewed at the beginning of the new semester when the Library introduced 6 September new Andor service. Andor is a search portal both for the Library’s e-books, printed books and journals and for foreign articles and other publications.
Foreign articles and availability information of printed journals can be found with Andor’s search and e-journals by their title or discipline on E-journal list. Databases are conveniently searched by discipline or title on Database list.
Customer activities such as renewal of loans are done in the renewed library catalog functioning on Andor’s background. For remote access you log in to Andor with the University’s basic user account.
Andor was presented for the first time on the University’s Opening Day, Tuesday 6 September at the Library’s booth on Main building’s 0 floor. The Library will also offer futher guidance on its use In the future. Students learn to use Andor also during their information retrieval courses and guidance can always be asked for at the Library’s Customer Service.
The functionalities of the new service will be refined during the autumn. The Library is glad to receive user experiences and feedback from the customers to the development work of Andor.
Also Tamcat and Nelli databases are still available but they will be closed by December. If you have saved favorite lists in Nelli we recommend that you email them to yourself if you wish to keep them.
Andor is based on Summon Service, designed by a big database producer ProQuest. Tampere University Library and Tamperre University of Technology Library have developed the service together and named it Andor. It is used in both libraries.
