Altogether 112 international students from twenty-six countries have started familiarising themselves with the University of Tampere, the City of Tampere and student life. A four-day orientation course introduced the students to study services, learning from other cultures and the Finnish higher education system.

As in the previous year, the largest number of students came from China (twenty-two). Eleven students came from Germany, eight from France, seven from Italy and six from the Czech Republic. Five students came from the Netherlands, South Korea and Turkey.

In 2016, the most students came from China (thirteen) whereas French students numbered twelve and Germans ten.

The most popular place at which the international students have sought to study is the Faculty of Management.
