Tampere University Association of Researchers and Teachers, Tatte ry

The semi-centennial seminar of Tampere University Association of Researchers and Teachers, Tatte ry, approaches a topical question in the middle of the current university budget cuts and brain drain. Can the academia still be saved or reconstructed? This burning question and the future of the Finnish university sector will be discussed in four presentations.

NB. The language of the seminar is Finnish.

Milka Hanhela, city councillor, (UTA):
"Between salvation and garbage is salvage": education as a political question.

Hanna Kuusela, researcher, adjunct professor (UTA):
Out from the Chaos. Universities as breeding grounds for better future.

Ville Lähde, non-fiction writer (BIOS research unit):
The problematic world must be made understandable without dumbing it down.

Petri Mäntysaari, professor (Hanken, Vaasa):
The ideal of academia can only be realised by the university community itself.

Tatte ry will hold a small reception with sparkling wine in the reception area outside the main auditorium at 15:00-16:00.
