Academy of Finland selects projects for strategic research funding

Five researchers from the University of Tampere are partners in research consortia

The Strategic Research Council of the Academy of Finland selected eleven projects for the new research programmes.

Researchers from the University of Tampere do not lead any of the projects that received funding in this round, but five researchers from the University of Tampere will be partners in other research consortia. They are Kaisa Herne, Päivi Honkatukia, Turo-Kimmo Lehtonen, Kaarina Nikunen and Jukka Viljanen. In addition, the University of Tampere participates in the activities of one consortium.

Professor of Media and Communication Research Kaarina Nikunen is involved in the Changing Society and Active Citizenship -research programme in a consortium called Tackling Biases and Bubbles in Participation headed by Anu Kantola from the University of Helsinki.

Professor of Political Science Kaisa Herne is a partner in the Participation in Long-Term Decision-Making -consortium led by Maija Setälä from the University of Turku.

Professor of Sociology Turo-Kimmo Lehtonen is a partner in the Creative adaptation to wicked socio-environmental disruptions -consortium, which is a part of the Adaptation and Resilience for Sustainable Growth -research programme headed by Janne Ilmari Hukkinen from the University of Helsinki.

Professor of Youth Studies Päivi Honkatukia and University Lecturer of Public Law Jukka Viljanen participate in the All youth want to rule their world -consortium headed by Reetta Toivanen from the University of Helsinki.

The University of Tampere also participates in the Growing Mind: Educational transformations for facilitating sustainable personal, social, and institutional renewal at the digital age -consortium, which is a part of the Keys to Sustainable Growth research programme.
