The Ministry of Education and Culture has invited the new university foundation’s founding members to attend a signing event concerning the establishment of the foundation. The event will take place in Tampere City Hall on 20 April 2017. The event is broadcast live on the TUT, UTA, and TAMK websites.
The establishment of the foundation is an important phase in the creation of a new kind of higher education institution in Tampere. The new university foundation’s operation will be based on the research and education of the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology as well as new combinations thereof made possible by increased collaboration. In addition, the foundation will be the main owner of Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The new university is to begin its operation in the beginning of the year 2019.
Kari Neilimo, Chair of the Strategic Executive Group in charge of the Tampere3 project, is glad that the new foundation’s founding members include operators from so many different fields of society and business. Members come from industry and commerce, from the public and third sectors, from academic research, health care, and labour market organisations, and from many other fields.
“A multidisciplinary university should have a diverse group of founders. We are genuinely proud of our founding members and believe that the collaboration between the founders and the new university will be fruitful. It’s wonderful that we have the support of such a wide and diverse group of founders,” Neilimo says.
The university foundation’s founding members are: The Republic of Finland, Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland TEK, C.V.
