The UniSecurity survey is charting the safety of the staff and organisations of universities. The project is funded by the Finnish Work Environment Fund and is being conducted by researchers at the Faculty of Management of the University of Tampere.
The current survey is aiming to map how the staff of universities experience security and insecurity, how these two manifest and are experienced in academic work as well as the security of organisations in relation to new types of threats, such as hate speech, hate crime and violence or the threat thereof.
The survey is conducted at five universities.
In the second phase of the research project, organisational security will be researched and security management further developed at the universities.
“The experiences and views of university teachers, researchers and other staff are valuable in developing the security of universities”, says researcher Kari Kuoppala.
University staff is asked to reply to the survey by 9 June 2017.
The leaders of the research project are Professor of Security Administration Sirpa Virta and University lecturer of Higher Education Administration Vuokko Kohtamäki, and the researcher in charge is Kari Kuoppala.
