Professor Frans Mäyrä receives international recognition for his achievements in games-related education

The Higher Education Video Game Alliance (HEVGA), which is an umbrella organisation for games-based research in higher education, appointed Professor Frans Mäyrä a lifetime HEVGA Fellow. Professor Mäyrä is the founder of the Game Research Lab Group at the University of Tampere. He is also vice-dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences.

HEVGA Fellows, who were now appointed for the first time, are elected by their peers for outstanding contributions to games-based research and design in higher education.

Having received the Distinguished Scholar Award conferred by DiGRA Digital Games Research Association in 2016, Mäyrä is now the recipient of two prestigious international awards for his achievements in research and instruction.
