The University of Jyväskylä (Faculty of Education and Psychology) and the University of Tampere (Faculty of Social Sciences) have signed an agreement on the Work and Organizational Psychology Consortium (WOPC).
Target of WOPC
WOPC strengthens the collaboration and operating conditions of the Universities of Jyväskylä and Tampere in the research and teaching of work and organisational psychology. Furthermore, WOPC increases the impact and visibility of research groups and broadens the competence base of researchers in the field of work and organisational psychology at both universities. In the field of education, cooperation is developed so that is it easier for the bachelor’s and master’s degree students of both universities to take more courses across the universities. The universities also plan common courses and seminars.
Long research and teaching cooperation behind the agreement
For universities, thematic consortia offer means of profiling since consortia are stronger than individual universities and units in both research and teaching. WOPC responds to this demand.
The cooperation of researchers in the field of work and organisation psychology from the universities of Jyväskylä and Tampere has been intensive in last ten year. The researchers have had several externally funded research projects and they have produced dozens of joint publications. Thus, WOPC is based on active long-term cooperation.
