Blended Learning Settings with Virtual Student Collaboration in the Teaching of German Language, Culture and Translation

This is a cooperative research project on blended learning of the German language. The method combines virtual student collaboration with class teaching in the context of German language, Culture, and Translation studies at Tampere University.  

This pedagogical research project started in 2012 and the cooperation between the course teacher and the researcher has yielded new perspectives to traditional teaching methods. These new methods have been developed with the aim of including the most recent elements of the media and learning culture into the teaching.

Background

The project was started by Business Finland funding within the Active Learning Spaces consortium in the sub-project Social Media and Games for Language Learning 2012-2013.

Goal

In addition, the project has initiated an international e-learning project platform called Kulturbasar, which enables university students to cooperate by the guidance of their teachers in a digital collaborative environment. The project caters for participants from the Nordics, the Baltic states and Germany.
