The DiGRA Disinguished Scholar award was conferred in recognition of Mäyrä’s scientific merits and the work he has undertaken to promote the scientific community in the field.
The University of Tampere organises a three-week-long intensive course on Finnish language and literature for international university students in July. The course is held in cooperation with the Centre for International Mobility CIMO.
The academic programme of the science fiction and fantasy convention Finncon gathered together dozens of researchers from Finland and around the world. The programme of the academic track, Fantastic Visions from Faerie to Dystopia, allowed researchers and participants of the convention to discuss the research done in the field in a relaxed atmosphere.
