Facts about the University

Some 15,200 students are currently pursuing degrees at the University of Tampere. Every year approximately one thousand master's degrees and one hundred doctoral degrees are produced. The personnel number about 2,100.

The Chancellor of the University is Ms Krista Varantola, the Rector is Ms Kaija Holli and the Administrative Director is Mr Petri Lintunen. 

At the beginning of 2011 the University of Tampere conducted a thorough overhaul of its organization. The former faculties and departments were rearranged into what is referred to as a schools model. The nine schools are
