Security

The head of security at the University is Ms. Taina Vimpari, head of the room reservations unit. In addition to Ms. Vimpari the steering group for crisis situations includes the Rector, the Head of Administration, the Head of information and the Chief Medical Officer of the student health services. It is the task of this group to lead, coordinate and organize practical measures in a crisis situation.

Order of actions in a crisis situation

1. Help victim(s)

2. Call for help: emergency number 112 or the house managers of the building

3. Warn personnel and students

4. Prevent the situation from spreading

5. The house managers will inform the head of security

6. The head of security will inform the steering group and telephone switchboard about the situation

7. The steering group for crises will determine how the University is to react to the situation; the steering group will be prepared to respond to enquiries from the media and to disseminate information. When the rescue services arrive on the scene they will assume responsibility for information dissemination. The rescue services and the representatives of the University will decide together what aspects of information dissemination are to be handled by the representatives of the University

8. Help the rescue services in their rescue work

9. Assess the damage and try to normalize the situation

10. Once the crisis is over the steering group and others involved will assess and analyse how the crisis came about and how successful measure to control it were.

11. End of the crisis: the Rector will inform the personnel and students and the media that the crisis is over.
