Kari Neilimo

Kari Neilimo

Chair of the Board, Senior industrialist and Doctor of Science (Economics) Kari Neilimo (b. 1944) has worked as chief executive officer of SOK and professor of business economics at the University of Tampere, Lappeenranta University of Technology and the University of Lapland. Neilimo has served as the Chair of the Board of the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) and the Finnish Commerce Federation. He was the Chair of the Board of the University of Tampere in 2009 – 2012. Neilimo serves as the chair, vice-chair and member of the board of several enterprises. He is Industrial Advisor of the capital investment firm Vaaka Partners Ltd. Neilimo is an expert on strategic leadership.

Seija Ilmakunnas

Seija Ilmakunnas

Vice-Chair of the Board Seija Ilmakunnas is Director of the Labour Institute for Economic Research. She received her Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Tampere and her doctoral degree from the University of Helsinki. She has extensive expertise in economics, labour markets and sectoral research. Formerly director general of the Government Institute for Economic Research, Ilmakunnas has recently researched the pension system and the position of older workers in the labour market.

Leena Heino

Leena Heino

Leena Heino (b. 1971) is a systems specialist with IT Services at the University of Tampere, where she has worked since 1997. Heino is a member of the University Collegiate Body and chairs the University of Tampere Staff Association (TaYHY). She is also the shop steward for the University’s administrative and office workers and a deputy chief shop steward. She is a member of the board of the Association of Finnish University and Research Establishment Staff.

Risto Heiskala

Risto Heiskala

Doctor of Social Sciences Professor Risto Heiskala (b. 1956) is director of the Institute for Advanced Social Research at the University of Tampere. He received his PhD in sociology from the University of Helsinki in 1997. He is currently also director of the research project Knowledge about the Economy in the EU, which is funded by the Academy of Finland, and of the Finnish Doctoral Program of Social Sciences. He was the social science representative in the Publication Forum Project of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. His research topics include social and cultural theory, the long view of social history and social change, societal steering mechanisms, economic sociology and the relationship of social scientific knowledge to social practice.

Rauno Ihalainen

Rauno Ihalainen

Doctor of Philosophy Rauno Ihalainen is director of the Pirkanmaa Hospital District and a member of the board for the Social Insurance Institution of Finland and the TTT Theatre. He is chair of the Health and Economy Association, a member of the Finnish Society of Technology Assessment in Health Care, and a member of several expert groups under the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. He has been involved in the Taito project on the Kauppi campus, which plans national cooperation in healthcare teaching and learning. His special expertise is in healthcare management, health economics, healthcare processes and quality enhancement, and health service reform.

Eero Kiiski

Eero Kiiski

Eero Kiiski (b. 1991), student of economics, has served, among other things, on the Teaching Council of the University of Tampere, the working group of the University Collegiate Body and in 2015 as the Chair of the Board of Tamy, the Student Union of the University of Tampere. In 2017, Kiiski continues as the Chair of Tamy’s property investment company and a member of the board of the foundation managing the Student Union house. Apart from these study-related jobs, he has worked as a peacekeeper in Afghanistan, in a summer job with Hämeenlinnan Maustepalvelu in 2005-2009 and in tasks that promote customer satisfaction.

Eeva Moilanen

Eeva Moilanen

D.Med.Sc. Eeva Moilanen (b. 1960) has worked as professor of pharmacology at the University of Tampere since 1999. She has graduated Licentiate of Medicine and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tampere and continued her education in London. She studies the mechanisms of and therapies for inflammatory diseases, especially arthritis, osteoarthritis and lung diseases. Moilanen leads the Immunopharmacology Research Group affiliated with the University of Tampere and Tampere University Hospital. She has held several positions of trust in both the university community and internationally. For example, she served as President of the Federation of European Pharmacological Societies (EPHAR) in 2008-2010 and has been a member of the International Union of Basic & Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) since 2014 and member of the executive committee of Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) since 2015. Moilanen is also member of the board of Pirkanmaa Hospital District.

 

 

 

 

 

JaanaParviainen

Jaana Parviainen

Doctor of Philosophy Jaana Parviainen works as a university researcher for the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Tampere, where she currently directs multidisciplinary research projects funded by the Academy of Finland and TEKES, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. Parviainen received her PhD in Philosophy in 1998. She has worked in teaching and research in several multidisciplinary research projects at different departments of the University of Tampere. Her present research interests in philosophy and cultural studies include five intersecting themes: embodiment, work, economy, mobility and technology. Parviainen has also worked as Professor of philosophy at the University of Tampere (2011) and as a university lecturer at the University of Jyväskylä (2012). She has been a member of the board and in 2011 chair of TATTE, the Tampere University Association of Researchers and Teachers.

Marita Ruohonen

Marita Ruohonen

Master of Social Sciences Marita Ruohonen (b. 1952) is Executive Director of the Finnish Association of Mental Health and a graduate of the University of Tampere. Ruohonen is a member of several working groups and boards in the social and healthcare sector, including chair of the National Council for Crime Prevention, a member of the boards of Finland’s Slot Machine Association and the Y-Foundation, vice-chair of the board of the Vates Foundation, vice-chair of the council of SOSTE, the Finnish Society for Social Welfare and Health and vice-chair of the Lähi-Tapiola board of directors. She is also an expert member of the national working group on Mental Health and Substance Abuse. Ruohonen is a member of the board and executive committee of Mental Health Europe. She has broad experience in the health and welfare sector and the third sector.

Petri Räsänen

Petri Räsänen

Licentiate of Social Sciences Petri Räsänen (b. 1966) is Director of Innovation and Foresight on the Council of the Tampere Region. He received his academic degrees from the University of Tampere. Räsänen is active in innovation policy, and he was involved in the founding of the Demola and Protomo networks. He has worked as director of and an expert in several private- and public-sector organisations and development projects and is a member of the New Business Committee of the Tampere Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Räsänen is familiar with the new innovation environments and the international networks in which they are developed.

Taru Smolander

Taru Smolander

Taru Smolander (b. 1993) is Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and a master’s student of psychology and administrative science. Since the start of her studies, she has been active in student organisations and politics; among other things, in the educational policy committee of Tamy, the Student Union of the University of Tampere and as a member of the Board of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. In 2017, she is a member of the student council of Akava, the Confederation of Unions for Professional and Managerial Staff in Finland, and a member of the Board of the Finnish Psychological Association with a special responsibility for finances and basic education. In addition to her studies, Smolander works in tasks related to competency testing and recruitment.
