
Doctoral students as members of the University of Tampere Doctoral School are in equal position regardless of whether they are employees of the University, or whether they are part-time or full-time students. A doctoral student may be employed by the University, in which case the funding generally comes from the doctoral programme of the University or from external sources. Doctoral studies can be pursued part-time while at work. In the latter case completion times will be agreed upon on a case-by-case principle.
The funding of doctoral studies usually consist of some of the possibilities below:
- funded position in a doctoral programme
- project research work
- research assistance work
- government study grant
- Foundations, associations, public communities
The University of Tampere does not admit doctoral student scholarships 2013 onwards. All funded positions are based on employment relationship.
