Career Workshop for doctoral researchers

As a highly skilled doctoral researcher, you have probably thought about your working life options. If not, you should do it. A couple of years from graduation, only two out of five doctors are working at the university. Others work in the companies, state, municipalities and third sector.

If you are
-    a doctoral researcher at the University of Tampere
-    interested in finding out your working life possibilities
-    willing to practice your career planning and job application skills
-    ready to get out of your comfort zone
this workshop is for you.

In this Career Planning workshop (consisting of five parts), you will prepare yourself for the job application process. You will start working on a network and develop career perspectives, inside as well as outside of the academic world. You will learn how to communicate effectively about your knowledge, skills and motivation. Part of the workshop is self-assessment, part information sharing, and part practicing of skills. The workshop is very interactive and designed to get to know yourself better and to increase confidence.

The group size for the workshop is 15 at the maximum. Accepted participants are expected to take part in all the workshop sessions plus in a peer meeting during the third week. Upon enrollment, you will be required to answer questions relating to your expectations for the workshops and your own goals.

Enrolment period for the workshop is between Mon 18.9.2017 at 12.00 - Mon 2.10.2017 at 12.00. Selection principle is first-in - first-served. Please make sure beforehand that you can participate in all workshop sessions. The link to e-form for enrolment is https://elomake3.uta.fi/lomakkeet/19728/lomake.html (public during enrolment period).
