The Faculty of Humanities

The particular strength of the Faculty of Humanities is research on language, history, art and culture with an orientation towards society. Most of the Faculty's students are destined for careers in teaching. The four-year master's degree offered in the Department of Acting prepares graduates for the actor's profession.

The Faculty of Information Sciences

Research and teaching in the Faculty are intended to respond to the increasing demands for information technology in today's society. Activities focus on research into various methods and techniques for the further development of information society.

The Faculty of Education

The Faculty carries out research on lifelong learning and education and offers teaching and expertise ranging from preschool education to adult education.

The Faculty of Economics and Administration

The Faculty is home to the School of Business Administration, which develops and co-ordinates education and research in economics. In education and research in administrative sciences the Faculty enjoys a nationally prominent position.

The Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty is responsible for the training of doctors and health care professionals competent in planning, research, development and teaching. The Faculty's teaching hospital and the home base for research is the Tampere University Hospital.

The Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty is the oldest of the six faculties and, with the International School of Social Sciences, embodies the fundamental mission of the University. The task of the Faculty is to engage in research in the social sciences and to provide teaching based thereon.
