Fraudulent emails are sent to University email addresses in an attempt to steal usernames and passwords of university staff members and students. These messages are a phishing scam and must never be replied to. A similar phishing scam took place in July.
Subject lines of these messages are "Verify your uta.fi email account now" or "Re: Account Upgrade Update-!!!". The messages are written in English.
The messages state that the user account of the receiver is expiring. The receiver is asked to verify the user account by providing the username and password in a reply message in order to keep the username valid.
Computer centre never requests any passwords. The passwords to the Computer centre network services are personal and must never be disclosed to others.
