Minister Christoffer Taxell has been appointed a member and chair of the board of the University Alliance Finland formed by the University of Tampere, the University of Jyväskylä and the Tampere University of Technology.

The focal areas for research of the University Alliance are human centred technology, ageing, sustainable energy, education and expertise policy, culture and society, medical technology and health, nanotechnology and scientific methods. The Alliance's first key projects were chosen in spring 2008.
