The University's annual party is set for 29 April starting at 17.00 in the Main Auditorium. This event is for the University personnel.
After entertainment in the Main Auditorium the party will continue in the upper foyer. The star of the evening will be a concert party from the Casa Ochun School of Dancing, which is owned by a Cuban currently resident in Tampere, Ms. Rosi Brook. Great dancers, splendid choreography and glorious costumes promise a fine performance.
The group will be accompanied live by the Tampere orchestra Son Moro, specialized in Cuban and Caribbean music. Later in the evening there will be dancing for all to the musicof Septeto Moro, an ensemble mostly composed of Son Moro players for music with a Latin flavour.
Son is a Cuban rhythm, musical genre and dance, a kind of forerunner of the Cuban salsa, while in Cuba moro means ‘dark'. Most of the Son Moro players are students present and past of the University of Tampere, including on the conga drums Professor Jyrki Nummenmaa, also known as a candidate in the recent election campaign for a new Rector. He may also be appearing in a dance number.
For the caterers please let us know if you will be participating at sihteerit.hallinto@uta.fi by 21 April. Further information about the party from Ms. Idel Kantola, secretary to the Rector, idel.kantola@uta.fi, tel. 6203.
