Howy Jacobs appointed as Senior Editor of EMBO reports

The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) announces the appointment of Professor Howy Jacobs as Senior Editor of EMBO reports. Howy Jacobs succeeds Frank Gannon who has served as senior editor of the journal since its inception in 2000. Howy Jacobs is Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Tampere.

EMBO reports publishes high-quality, short-format articles reporting scientific findings of broad interest and major biological significance in all areas of molecular biology. In addition, it features expert scientific reviews from leading researchers plus editorial content offering insight into issues affecting science and society.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Howy Jacobs as the new Senior Editor of EMBO reports,” said Hermann Bujard, EMBO Director. “Howy’s research creativity, his dedication to science that goes beyond his own field combined with his passion for science communication will serve him well in this role.”

Responding to his appointment, Howy Jacobs looks forward to “piloting the journal into its second decade and working with the editorial team to build upon the success of EMBO reports both within and beyond the molecular biology community.”
