University of Tampere student selection

The results of this summer's student selection at the University of Tampere have been announced.  Of those participating in the admission tests 1,469 (13% of all applicants) have been sent a Letter of Acceptance.

This year 15,476 applicants made the University of Tampere their first choice.  The overall increase in the number of applicants from last year was 32%.  The University of Tampere is in second place after the University of Helsinki regarding the number of applicants.

The most popular subjects applied for are medicine, psychology, journalism and theatre, all of which attracted over one thousand first-choice applications.  The share of successful applicants for the degree programme in theatre was a mere two per cent.  The threshold was also high for psychology and marketing, with acceptance rates of three to four per cent.

Successful applicants are required to confirm their acceptance of the place offered them by 4 August.  The academic year at the University of Tampere begins on 1 September.
