APPLICATION PERIOD 7–21 September 2009
The degree students of the University of Tampere currently enrolled as present may apply for exchange studies in the following bilateral partner universities of the University of Tampere:
AUSTRIA
• UNIVERSITY OF SALZBURG: 1 student for one semester
BRAZIL
• CENTRO UNIVERSTÁRIO FEEVALE, Novo Hamburgo: 1 student for one semester
CHINA
• GUANGZHOU UNIVERSITY: 2 students for one semester
ESTONIA
• UNIVERSITY OF TARTU: 1 student for one semester
GERMANY
• UNIVERSITÄT LEIPZIG: 4 students for one semester
MEXICO
• INSTITUTO TECHNOLÓGICO DE ESTUDIOS SUPERIORES MONTERREY(ITESM), campus Ciudad Juárez: 4 students for one semester
RUSSIA
• IVANOVO STATE UNIVERSITY: 2 students for one semester
• MOSCOW STATE LINGUISTIC UNIVERSITY: 1 student for one semester
• PETROZAVODSK STATE UNIVERSITY: 1 student for one semester
• ST. PETERSBURG STATE POLYTECHNICAL UNIVERSITY: 3 students for one semester
TAIWAN
• NATIONAL TAIWAN NORMAL UNIVERSITY (NTNU): 1 student for one semester
UKRAINE
• TARAS SHEVCHENKO NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF KYIV: 1 student for one semester
The applicants must have studied at the University of Tampere for at least one year, except those who apply to the University of Leipzig who must have studied for at least two years. Postgraduate students may apply for places at the Universities of Leipzig, Salzburg and Tartu. Students cannot apply to study abroad for a period for which they do not have the right to study at the University of Tampere (N.B. Students studying at the master’s degree programmes organized by the ISSS have a time limit for their studies, i.e. the right to study covers two years. The Dean of the Faculty can prolong the right to study upon application.)
Language requirements:
Austria and Germany: a good command of German
Brazil: a satisfactory knowledge of Portuguese, no tuition in English
China and Taiwan: a good command of English and at least an elementary course in Chinese taken before the start of the exchange period
Estonia: a good command of Estonian if studying in Estonian in Tartu or a good command of English if studying in English
Mexico: a good command of Spanish and English (Ciudad Juarez)
Russia: a satisfactory command of Russian
Ukraine: a satisfactory knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian
The places are confirmed finally when the host universities accept the students.
Applicants fill in an application form, which can be downloaded and printed from the link provided and which is also obtainable from 7 September onwards at the International Office A129 (Main Building).
Please return the application form and its enclosures
to the International Office A129, by 3 pm on Monday 21 September. In addition to the enclosures mentioned above, students enrolled in Master’s degree programmes (the separate two-year Master’s programmes, not ‘ordinary’ Master’s degrees) should enclose a statement from a supervisor of her/his Master’s thesis in which the supervisor supports student’s application to the given host university.
Those selected to the exchange programmes receive a travel grant from the University of Tampere. However, the students who are accepted in the University of Leipzig will only receive the grant if the host university does not offer a grant.
