The Ällästikku Award for the School of Public Health

The School of Public Health has been awarded the Ällästikku (= reader pointer) Award for 2009 in recognition of its systematic and participatory quality work in education.

The teaching council of the University decided that the 2009 Ällästikku should be awarded for quality assurance in education to acknowledge that the units of the University accomplished great things in establishing and documenting their quality assurance systems for the 2008 audit.

It was decided to award the Ällästikku to the School of Public Health especially for the systematicity and stability of its quality work. Among the merits mentioned were the School’s own teacher’s manual and their systematic processing and utilization of student feedback. Appreciation was moreover expressed for the higher than average rate of students successfully completing their studies. The School of Public Health trains bachelors and masters in health sciences, the major subject being public health.
