Financial constraints have compelled the Language Centre to curtail exchange students’ participation in teaching as of next academic year.
The survival and follow-up courses in Finnish for foreigners are intended for exchange students. Other Finnish courses are intended for degree students. Exchange students can only participate in these if, after startup with the required minimum of degree students, there are free places.
The same principle will be applied to all other Language Centre courses. Since cuts in the number of courses offered will likely result in their being filled by degree students, the opportunities for exchange students to participate in language courses will be considerably reduced.
There will also be major cuts in Intercultural Communication Studies popular with exchange students, but the remaining courses will continue to welcome exchange students.
