Universities in Tampere established Tampere Mathematics Center

The Department of Mathematics at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Tampere (UTA)  established a joint center focusing on mathematics called Tampere Mathematics Center. The purpose of the center is to promote top-level research in mathematics and research education as well as to develop mathematics education and teacher education.

The center offers high-quality mathematics services to companies and communities in the Tampere region within the framework of joint projects and consulting services. In 2009, the center will employ a research and teaching staff of over 70. The center was opened on October 30, 2009.
