Workshop on Research Methods for Social Media
31/8/2010 8:30am–4:00pm in Otaniemi, Espoo
All parties interested in the workshop can access it also through the internet. Registration to the seminar has already expired but the organizers hope that, in addition to the 130 people arriving on site, there will be many online participants.
The workshop is jointly organized by Somus and Visci research projects and funded by the Academy of Finland. Both projects are part of the Academy's Motive research program and share a combined interest in multidisciplinary research and an inclination to apply social media to research work openly and interactively, thus initiating networking. This is also the reason why the seminar discussions are accessible interactively online.
Live video stream from the seminar begins on Tuesday morning. The interactive quality of the event is enhanced by a Qaiku micro-blog channel someme, which enables reporting and, consequently also debate on the ideas raised by the guest speakers. The channel is also used to distribute links to virtual memos where the collective output from the afternoon's working groups will be stored.
The working language is English.
