The University of Tampere is one of the first European universities to initiate a Joint Master's programme cooperation with the top Chinese university - Beijing Normal University. The new Master's program will educate international students for development and management of higher education and innovation systems.
“Joint Master’s programme together with the Beijing Normal University is an outcome of our persistent cooperative efforts. The programme graduates will be well prepared to build the higher education systems of the future. Students are studying in Beijing, and Tampere, but also in Austria and Germany and they will receive degree certificates from four universities.” says Seppo Hölttä, the professor in charge of the programme at the University of Tampere
The "Research and Innovation in Higher Education", Master's programme aims to enroll annually 15 to 20 students, most of which are likely to come from outside of Europe. The Dean of the School of Management, Professor Markku Sotarauta says the new programme is in line with the internationalisation activities of School of Management.
“School of Management wants to be actively supporting the strengthening of emerging management and innovation systems. In addition to China, we are currently involved in raising the level of expertise and know-how in Vietnam and Uganda”, Dean Sotarauta tells.
The design and implementation of the Master’s programme at the School of Management is conducted by the Higher Education Group unit. In addition to the University of Tampere and Beijing Normal University, other degree granting partners in the programme consortia are German Hochschule Osnabrück and the Austrian Donau Universität Krems (coordinator of the programme). The programme received a prestigious Erasmus Mundus Masters Course - status from the European Union in this year’s selection.
