The duration of the doctoral programme is four years, starting from January 1st, 2012. Individual periods of doctoral student positions are determined on the basis of the stage of PhD research and the allowance available to the doctoral programme. Doctoral students of FiDPEL can study their doctoral studies at all those Finnish universities which are involved in FiDPEL (Universities of Eastern Finland, Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Tampere, Turku and Oulu).
The applicants may apply to one or two of the following subprogrammes of FiDPEL:
1. Subprogramme of Comparative Research on Educational Policy, Economy and Assessment (CREPEA)
2. Subprogramme on Developmental Work Research and Adult Education (DWRAE)
3. Subprogramme on Education, Knowledge and Culture (EKC)
4. Subprogramme on Learning, Learning Contexts and Teacher Education (LCTE)
